"and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
[18] may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
[19] and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fulness of God." (Ephesians 3:17-1190

Healing on the streetsJenny
Jenny Baker writes: Last year at our prayer group we had a visit from the community worker of a local Anglican church, inviting us to come and be part of a new ecumenical group to go out to pray for people in the high street of the busy town of St Albans every Saturday afternoon. I had recently been challenged by reports I had heard coming from the US of people going on to the streets and seeing God work miracles. This inspired me to volunteer to be a part of the ‘Healing on the streets’ team and I have been really excited by what I have seen so far ...

Evangelising in prison - from inside
My name is Jimmy Doherty. I am 27 years old and currently I am a convicted prisoner. I have been sentenced for a minimum of four years for an act of violence, which I sincerely regret. I have already served 20 months and if I continue progressing well I may be released in two and half years. I have been a Roman Catholic all my life and my belief in God has always been very strong, but I wasn’t a good Christian and just like the devil, although I believed in God I did not decide to make any real commitment to God’s way. At the beginning of my sentence, however, I started reading the Holy Bible and I attended the Alpha course. I decided to make a commitment to the faith and I received the sacrament of confirmation in the prison chapel ...

Evangelising through the familyJohn
Kristina Cooper meets John Ghazal and finds out how God is using his whole family to evangelise through their love and support for each other. Kristina writes: We often see evangelisation as something we do rather than who we are. When we love God and want others to experience this, God will use everything about our personalities and our lives to help bring about his kingdom. This was brought home to me very much the other month when I visited John Ghazal and his family in Brighton ...

Spiritual discernment
Fr Bob Faricy writes: Spiritual discernment is that prayerful process by which I examine, through love and in the light of faith, the nature of my experience. Discernment involves knowing the Lord affectively, with the heart. Does this particular impulse or idea or plan or project or word come from the Lord or not? Is it from the Spirit of Jesus or from some other source? Knowing where a particular thought or plan or word comes from will help me in making decisions; I want to follow up and carry out what comes from the Holy Spirit. And I want to reject and avoid what does not ...

Here I am LordSibi
Sibi Joseph, the Jesus Youth co-ordinator for the United Kingdom, tells us about his background and how God has worked in his life and brought him to England to evangelise: I was born in Kerala, South India, which is the most Catholic part of India. We lived in a hilly village with no proper roads or electricity. Although my parents were poor and humble they were very devout Catholics and my mother took particular care of my spiritual formation. She used meticulously to send me to catechism classes and Holy Mass regularly ...

Word of life
Fr Chris Thomas writes: When my dad died in 1982 I was devastated not least because our relationship had never been easy but more because I never had the chance to tell him that it was alright, that I’d forgiven him for all that happened when I was a child and that I loved him. I was sitting in my bedroom at home praying the day before the funeral and I picked up the Good News Bible and there in front of me were the words from Paul’s letter to the Romans; ‘For to those who love God, who are called in his plan everything works out for good.’ It was like a bolt of lightening in the darkness. It transformed the pain that I felt. Somehow I knew that it really was alright and that my dad knew it was alright. ...

And Lots More ...

How precious is thy steadfast love, O God!
The children of men take refuge
in the shadow of thy wings.
They feast on the abundance of thy house,
and thou givest them drink from the river of thy delights.
For with thee is the fountain of life;
in thy light do we see light.
O continue thy steadfast love to those who know thee,
and thy salvation to the upright of heart!
(Psalm 36:7-10)
