Celebrate the end of the Churchs year be noticed on Youth Sunday! You will need: First: Cut out the cloth rectangle with pinking shears to help prevent fraying, and apply glue down one short side. Roll this edge around the stick, starting a few centimetres down from the top in order to leave room for the ribbon. Now your flag is ready to decorate. Next: Use the chalk to draw a large crown in the centre of the flag. When you are happy with the shape, use the fabric paints to colour it. Then: Use the crayons to write some words of scripture under the crown. (Try this out with chalk first.)
The Lord is king for ever and ever! (Ps. 10: 16) You are my king and my God! (Ps. 44: 4) Sing praise to our king! (Ps. 47: 6) God is king over all the world! (Ps. 47: 7) Shout for joy to the Lord our king! (Ps. 98: 6) Hosanna to the king! (Luke 19: 38) King of kings! (Rev. 19: 16) Now use the chalk to make patterns around the edges of the flag, and on the crown. Go over the patterns with glue, and then shake the glitter gently over the top. Leave it all to dry before shaking it off! Finally: The ribbons represent the river of the water of life, sparkling like crystal and coming from the throne of God (Rev. 22: 1). Cut the ribbon into 4 x 35cm lengths and attach them to the top of the stick: first glue three ribbon ends together, & then glue these about 6cms down from the top of the fourth ribbon. Make a loop with the top of this last ribbon and glue it to the top of the stick. Now your flag is ready! Perhaps you could wave your flag at Mass during the first or final hymn or maybe during the Alleluia?
