Sharing the Gospel through the Media

The CaFE team have just started on a new and exciting project and they would value your prayers. June Palmer writes:

After a very busy year launching “First Holy Communion and Reconciliation” for parents and “This is my Body” we felt that the Lord wanted us to go right to the heart of our faith with a new series reflecting on The Creed. After much prayer and discernment we have decided to base this firmly on the teachings in The Catechism of the Catholic Church presented in a way that could help Catholics to a better understanding and appreciation of their faith. We are planning to design it to be suitable for use in an ecumenical setting by focussing on how the Creed can be a source of unity between Christians. The main teaching will be given by David Payne filmed on location in key sites around the world relating to our faith, including Israel, Rome and Nicea.

As well as the usual testimonies from Catholics around the country we have also been very blessed that many prominent people of faith have agreed to be interviewed for this course to give us their reflections on different aspects of the Creed. These include Fr Raniero Cantalamessa, Archbishop Elias Chachour, Rev Nicky Gumbel, Fr Jerome Murphy-O’Connor, Archbishop Mark Coleridge, Dr Clare Watkins, Lord David Alton, Sr Maria Natella, Delia Smith, Fr Martin Tierney, Abbot Christopher Jamison, Fr Paul Watson, Jean Vanier, Jackie Pullinger and we are awaiting response from other invited speakers, including key Anglican speakers. This series will be filmed and edited this year and it will be launched in January 2008. It will make a great Lent course to follow on from “This is my Body”.
We are very excited about this and believe that it will be an invaluable resource for the church. Please pray for us and this project. We really need your prayers as we start to embark on the massive amount of work involved in the filming and editing of so many interviews, testimonies, teaching and musical reflections, not to mention the organisation involved in filming in the various locations around the world. Thank you.

Future Productions
There has been an alarming reduction in the number of marriages in the Catholic Church in the last few years (1983 – 27,774, 1993 - 19,741 and 2003 – 11,013) and we would like to help address this issue by producing a flexible resource on marriage to help those preparing to get married, to help married couples to draw strength from the Sacrament and also to show young people the joys and benefits of Christian marriage. We plan to produce this next year and need to start fund-raising soon.

If anyone has any contacts with Charitable Trusts or other groups or individuals that might be able to help us please could you contact us. We need to raise approximately £30,000 to get the production rolling. Please also pray for this fund-raising initiative.

Please contact us at Catholic Evangelisation Services, PO Box 333, St Albans, Herts. AL2 1EL (Tel 01727 822837) or on-line via our web-site www.faithcafe.org.
(As we are a registered charity the value of any gift can be increased by signing a Gift Aid form, please ask us for details).
