Cafe News from Catholic Evangelisation Services

David Payne, the director of CES, reports

David PayneThe team from Catholic evangelisation Services have been very busy lately promoting a CaFÉ (Catholic Faith Exploration). This is a process for parishes, schools, colleges or prisons and it is designed to help catholics become more enthusiastic about their faith, begin to meet in small groups and to give them the vision and tools to start sharing their faith with others.

Charles Whitehead, the Chairman of CES, has been travelling around the country talking to the Bishops about CaFÉ and he has had a very warm and encouraging response. We have run three training days for CaFÉ, two in the South and one in Newcastle. The response to these was incredible. The first two were over-subscribed and the Northern one was comfortably full even though England were playing in the second round of the world cup that lunch-time! We have more CaFÉ training days coming up. They are:

September 14th in St Albans
October 5th at Birmingham University Chaplaincy Centre
November 2nd in Leeds

If you would like more details of CaFÉ or any of these CaFÉ Training Days or a free short CaFÉ Introductory Video please phone 01727 827078 and leave a message with your name, address and telephone number.

In the last year we have produced a number of new resources. These include the CaFÉ Team Training Video and Training Manual and also a CaFÉ Leaders Pack. Also as part of CaFÉ we have produced two new video series but these, like all our other series, can also be used in their own right. “Knowing God Better” includes seven talks by David Payne and is designed to bring Catholics into a closer personal relationship with God and to help them get more out of their faith in the nitty gritty of their everyday lives. It is available on video and audio and includes personal testimonies, mime, music and times for personal reflection.

“Catholics Making a Difference” is a series given by various speakers including Lord David Alton, Charles Whitehead, Michelle Moran, Jenny Baker and David Payne. There are also contributions from Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, CAFOD, Peter Garrett, James difference by their works, witness and words and they call for responses in all these areas.

If you would like more details of these or any of our resources or would like a free resource brochure please contact us on 01727 823803 or at the address below. “Knowing God Better” (or KGB as we call it!) has just started to be used in a few parishes and the feedback that we have been getting is fantastic and very encouraging. It is always very helpful to hear how our resources are being received and how they are being run and we would welcome any feedback (positive and negative of course). If you could help us with this please could youcontact us via www.catholicsvangel.org or write to us at:
