| Anniversary Disaster turns to Blessing Eddie McDonald, one of the leaders of the Charismatic Renewal in Glasgow, shares how a disaster turned into a blessing

The most amazing thing though was the way the Lord turned a disaster into a blessing. It was the 30th of July last year, and it was my wife Diane and my wedding anniversary. It had been raining really hard all day and when I looked out of the window the water from the burn 70 yards away had broken its banks and was seeping towards the house, towards the car. We are at the bottom of a hill, in a cul de sac so I decided to move the car up higher. My 4 year daughter Hannah opened the door to my office and we found it was totally Hooded. Foolishly I opened the back door thinking that would help the water to get out. Instead it created a river effect. It was like something out of (he films and a huge flood of water surged through, about 2ft deep. Instead of going out that evening, Diane and I had to make do with a couple of pizzas. Things can't get worse than this I thought, and I wasn't even sure if I was properly insured and what would happen, particularly with the office equipment. I opened my bible and it opened at the passage from Romans about "All things working to the glood for those who believe in god". When I went to the prayer group, everyone prayed for me and Jack, one of them, told me praise God because He would turn it all around for me. I couldn't see how. But when the assessors came in, they were far more generous than I ever expected. I didn't ask for anything but they basically ended up totally re-equipping my office, and we got a new three piece suite and new flooring!! Afterwards one of my friends Margaret reminded me that some months
earlier, during a prayer time for me she had got a picture of God
throwing out all the old equipment in my office and bringing in new
equipment. At the time it didn't make any sense, but now it did. All
this has made me realise that I just have to learn to trust Him with
everything. As long as I do my part he will do the rest.
