Many millions are starving to death in southern Africa and later
this year more millions are estined to die in Ethiopia and Eritreya.
Cafod are asking people to include the people of Africa in their
prayers and suggest the following one:
Living God Our Strength and help. We turn
to you in our distress. May the spirit of compassion Comfort
and protect your people. In the parched lands and failed harvests
We see you hungry. May the shadow of that hunger Be broken by
the light of your hope. In our hearts we hold a vision Of a
better world. May we, by our actions Bear witness to your love.

Charismatic Priest's Easter Week Retreat
The speaker at this year's annual priests' retreat in Easter
week is Fr Bob de Grandis from the United States. Fr Bob was
responsible in the early years of Charismatic Renewal for helping
people in England to move into and to understand the working
of the charisms. Apart from the excellent and stimulating speakers
they always manage to get, one of the attractions says Fr Mark
White, one of the organising team, is simply the fellowship
of being able to share with brother priests in the same situation.

SOS Telephone Prayer Line
The SOS Prayerline hours have been changed to 8pm to midnight.
Those who man the telephones pray in front of the Blessed Sacrement
while they wait for calls, and pray with people over the phone
for any problems or difficulties they may be facing. They do
not offer counselling advice, only prayer. The SOS Prayerline
