CJMCJM Will Tour UK This May
Joanne Boyce and Mike Stanley, the singing, song-writing duo who founded CJM will be touring the UK this May (7th-22nd) to launch their latest album "Before the Lord". Places they will play at include: Burntwood, Penshaw(Tyne and Wear), Liverpool, Newport, Forest Hill, Derby, London Colney and Stratford on Avon. (see coming events page 34 for further details). Over the last seven years the pair have become familiar to those who attend charismatic conferences, and others due to their appearances on BBC Songs of Praise, Radio 4's Morning Worship and even Channel 4's Big Breakfast. They will be backed by the Celebrate Chorus, a group of young adults, who were originally drawn from the participants at the Celebrate conference one year and sang with the duo. Mike Stanley comments, "They have sung with us at various gigs since then, but this will the first time we've attempted to make them part of a full concert tour, It's a logistical challenge for us in terms of travel and accommodation but, as Jo says, the songs on this album were meant for more voices and these guys sound great, so we just have to take a leap of faith and go for it."

This Promise is For You
This Promise is For You, is an excellent evangelistic tool, developed by the English NSC for parishes and small groups. The first two talks deliver the basic gospel message simply, clearly and joyfully. The focus is then put on the person of the Holy Spirit who gives us himself and his gifts to help us become holy and to serve the Church and world. For full details of the video course and workbook, contact Goodnews Books, 15 Barking Close, Luton, Beds LU4 9HG. Tel 91582 571011.

WALKIN' HOPE
Plans for the new North East Conference at Minsteracres this summer (July 9th-llth) are underway. The conference is for everyone from tots to grannies and particularly suitable for families who are expected to camp or caravan. There is a small amount of on site accommodation at Minsteracres itself. Campers won't have to cook as there will be a tent with hot soup, sandwiches and drinks and also catering vans with a variety of food.
The programme is varied and has as its main attraction Fr Stan Fortuna CFR, the rapping priest from the Bronx, who has a particular ministry to young people, but whose communication gifts reach everyone! For further details see coming events under 'Conferences'.

LIFE IS FOR JOY
Another new event for the family in the South of England is "Life is for Joy" (3rd-4th July) a weekend gathering at Wintershall, the famous Surrey estate where the Life of Christ is put on. The inspiration for the gathering comes from Sr Sheelagh O'Flynn who last summer went to New Dawn and Greenbelt, the evangelical arts festival and felt is would be good to have something locally. (See coming events for further details.)

CONGRATULATIONS
Fr Sean Conaty, a former member of the English NSC and a long time leader of the Catholic Charismatic renewal, this year celebrates his Golden Jubilee to the priesthood. There will be a Celebration Mass for him on 6th june at our lady of the Assumption in Gateshead.

CaFE TEAM PRODUCE NEW EVANGELISTIC BAPTISMAL PREPARATION COURSE FOR THE CHURCH
The Department for Parish and Family Catechesis for the Archdiocese of Birmingham have been so impressed by the CaFE material produced by Catholic Evangelisation Services at London Colney, that they commissioned them to produce a Baptism Preparation course. This flexible and polished resource has input from Archbishop Vincent Nichols and David Payne, and numerous parents. There are also humorous comments from young children: "My parents have to pray hard because I'm a troublemaker at home!" It follows the Rite of Baptism, and has an evangelistic as well as catechetical dimension. It is designed to help parents (and godparents) appreciate the gift of faith given in the Sacrament and their role in nurturing that faith, but also challenges them to consider their own faith journey. The complete course consists of 2 videos (or DVDs), a leadership manual, with a number of booklets for both godparents and I parents. It is now available nationally and J internationally. For further details contact Catholic Evangelisation Services, PO Box 333, St Albans, Herts AL2 1EL. Tel 01727 822837 or visit www.faithcafe.org
