Prayer Tips

He shared with me a similar story and how he had turned the situation into a blessing. He was studying in Rome and his bedroom was just next to the telephone for the landing of the seminary where he was living. This meant it fell to him to answer the phone, and see whom it was for. It usually wasnt for him and thus it would mean a walk down the corridor to whoever had been asked for, and if they werent in, returning to take a message for them. As he was studying, this became very annoying, as it seemed he was being constantly interrupted in his work. Then he had an inspiration. Every time the phone rang, he would think of it as the Lord calling him for a chat and would go into prayer mode. As he walked to the phone he would pray for the person ringing. Then as he walked down the landing he would pray for the recipient of the call, and so on. This once annoying situation, he said, became the greatest blessing of his time in Rome. I took his example to heart and started doing the same myself. I didnt necessarily get to answer more phone calls, but it became a small way that I could punctuate my day with thoughts of God and stop myself getting too engrossed with my work. And I was much less frustrated! Kristina Cooper
