THE OTHER HALF the other half
When we were at a conference in Austria last year, the Lord gave me a picture which was both helpful and challenging to my spiritual walk. The picture was of a large water wheel which was not moving, attached to a mill. The bottom of the wheel was submerged in water but there was no water coming through the channel at the top to make it go round. Obviously there was a blockage in the channel. The wheel had been created to move, to work the machine inside the mill, but it needed the flowing water to fulfil its task. It seemed to me very symbolic of our lives and our work for the Lord. We might well have experienced the moving of the Holy Spirit, we might even feel we are surrounded by His presence, but are we being moved by Him? Are there blockages between us and the Lord which are preventing His empowering in us? In the natural world of flowing water, the problem can be a large obstruction which suddenly appears, or a gradual silting up of the channel. So it can be for us in the spiritual world. Has something suddenly happened which has come between us and our Lord or is it just complacency, indifference or confidence in our own ability which has clouded that wonderful channel of grace which we once knew? Either way -1 think it's time to deal with it and prepare to re-open
my life to Him who created me for Himself- to be and to work for His

I wish I could draw this column today -instead of writing it! But
then, as I have no great skill as an artist it might be just as well
