THE PROPHETIC WORD 2006 : A Year of Trials and Tribulations accompanied by Many Miracles
Myles Dempsey, the visionary behind the New Dawn conference and a national and international figure in Charismatic Renewal for over 30 years, is recognised for his prophetic giftedness. Below he shares his own spiritual journey and some of the words the Lord has spoken, including the one he was given for 2006.

I first became involved in the
CCR on the third day of 1973. It was a marvellous year. 1974 proved even
better with the establishment of a new prayer group in my own home. Here
the foundation was laid for what would eventually become the Prince of
Peace Community, leading to the setting up of the annual New Dawn conference.
Then in 1975 I attended the first CCR conference in Rome where I was present
in St Peter’s basilica when Pope Paul VI publicly addressed the CCR.
It was an awe inspiring event and it was at the end of that conference,
while sitting in St Peter’s basilica, looking up at the Holy Spirit
window, that I clearly heard the words “I
brought you here to send you. Airports will feature in your life.”
This word has been borne out in detail over the past 30 years.
The next significant word was on St Stephen’s Day, 1975 when the Lord gave me a clear indication that a change was coming. I heard a very clear inner voice saying “The coming year will be a very exciting year – a year of deep confrontation, but I will be with you all the way.” Six days later I was suddenly struck down with severe cellulitis whose debilitating effects have remained with me to this present day. Following that I was attacked verbally by a number of people who believed false stories about me, which were circulating implying that I had overstepped the bounds of a lay person in my healing ministry. Written complaints had even been sent to the hierarchy and influential people in Charismatic Renewal. I was maligned and isolated. Late in 1977 a formal investigation was carried out and I was totally exhonerated. The whole episode was a very severe trial but throughout every moment I was deeply aware of the presence of the Lord supporting me and I grew in confidence. I then understood what was meant by the word I had earlier received. Following that I received a word at the end of each year telling in broad terms what to expect over the next twelve months. On each occasion everything took place exactly as indicated. But in later years I have felt the Lord speaking to me not just about personal matters but concerning wider issues affecting the world. Prophetic word about Twin Towers Tragedy Just before the New Dawn conference in 2001 I received a word of warning which I shared briefly at the time. The following month I was reminded about that word and repeated it in greater detail at a prayer meeting on the evening of 10th September 2001. The words I used were “an event of world wide significance is soon to take place and when it does it will have two main consequences : it will result in consternation for the nations but will lead to a time of glory for the Church.” After speaking these words I told the people, “do not ask me when this will take place – I do not know dates but it will happen soon. Do not ask me the nature of this event – I do not know. It doesn’t have to be an atomic bomb for example – it could be in the nature of a massive financial collapse like what occurred in 1929, only on a much larger scale. After all the economic structure of the world is so brittle that it could suddenly come down like a house of cards and you might see people jumping from the windows of the skyscrapers of New York.” The following morning I received a phone call from Lisbon. I was told “Turn on your television, turn on your television!” I immediately tuned in. I thought I had the wrong programme and was seeing a horror movie. Then I realised that what I was watching was live from New York and I remembered the words I had spoken the previous night. There, before my eyes, the twin towers, a symbol of the world’s financial system, was falling down like a pack of cards while people were jumping out of skyscrapers. My words had proved prophetic without my realising it. On New Year’s day this year I received words telling me that 2006 would be “a year of trials and tribulations accompanied by many miracles.” Only time can establish the authenticity of this word and in all these matters prayer and careful discernment are required. Although a word like this might seem alarming, for believing Christians it is a word of hope – a reminder that when bad things happen God is still in charge and He will bring a greater good out of the situation. It is also an encouragement to prayer and I see everywhere a new sense of the urgency for intercession for our world.
