OPPORTUNITIES TO JOIN CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES
Becoming part of a Christian community, whether it is for the long term, or the short term is a wonderful way to grow in faith and self-knowledge. As each community will have its own spirituality and emphasis there are communities for all kinds of callings. Below are several possibilities which have arrived at the Goodnews office:

L’ARCHE, founded by Jean Vanier, has houses all over the world and in the UK, where those with learning disabilities live with others in community. They are looking for assistants to join them in their work and witness. A challenging but life enhancing experience. Assistants can be of any age – both young people/students and older people who might be looking for a new direction in their life. The houses in Britain are in Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Preston, Liverpool, Ipswich, Kent, Lambeth, Bognor Regis, Brecon. For further information contact 0800 917 1337 or write to L’Arche, 10 Briggate, Silsden, Keighley, West Yorkshire BD20 9JT www.larche.org.uk

THE ELM GROVE COMMUNITY, BRIGHTON is made up of four young adults committed to living the gospel in an urban setting to respond to the needs of the poor and the call of Christ to spread the Good News. Rooted in the Benedictine way of life, the one-year experience includes formation, spiritual development and outreach projects. Members also work part-time, mainly in pastoral or service based roles within the Church or the wider community. The community is looking for two new members from this summer onwards. Those interested can visit www.elmgrovecommunity.co.uk or http://www.laybenedictines.org

THE SION COMMUNITY FOR EVANGELISATION is looking for three or more young adults (aged 20-35) to work alongside their Cross Purposes Youth Mission Team in outreach to Catholic Secondary Schools and to lead other youth ministry projects with young people of various ages. Some experience of working with young people and leadership skills needed, but full training giving. Full board and accommodation given. Successful applicants will live at the community house at Chalfont St Peter and will become part of the community life there. Those interested contact David Beresford, Sion Youth Discipleship Base, Holy Cross Convent, Gold Hill East, Chalfont St Peter, SL9 9DW tel 01753 888322 www.sioncommuity.org.uk
