The Other Half The Other Half

We are in the process of moving! Quite an interesting situation really. We had decided that it was time to move to something smaller but had discovered on looking at Charles diary that 2007 looked like the earliest date when we could manage that. I suggested we ask the Lord if we could have a three month sabbatical that year during which he could find us a house and move us in! Two weeks later - when we were NOT looking for a house - we bought a house, and sold a house with no chain in either direction. Obviously the Lord said three days were ample time for Him (after all - look what He did in six days!). Fortunately we have been able to spend time getting our new house ready without moving in and it is very exciting to see the Lords influence in many incidents that have occurred. For example - one Thursday morning found me standing in the kitchen (of the new house) with water sloshing around my feet as the boiler had burst! Our friend, the electrician, looked me in the eye and said with a smile Someone up there is obviously looking after you! Now, not a lot of people would understand that statement under the circumstances. But he was absolutely right! We did not expect anyone to be working in the house that Thursday morning and I did not plan to go there until the afternoon when someone was coming to lay a new floor. Vince, our friend, had popped in to collect his tools which he had left there the previous night, and was greeted by the water oozing out under the back door. By the time he called me and I had driven round, he had shut off the water and started the mopping up. So, it really was by the grace of God that the damage was discovered and rectified. We managed to clear up by lunchtime before the floor arrived. I even managed to get a message to the plumber who came and removed the faulty boiler. Just imagine how much worse it could have been. We could have already laid the new floor! Moving is such a traumatic experience that I am glad we are doing it in the knowledge that it is part of Gods plan for us. It is VERY challenging as we are moving to a much smaller house and need to sort out 25yrs of accumulated necessities! As we do that I know that God will be sorting out our personal excesses. We all acquire so much unnecessary baggage. Some of it may be beautiful and much loved but if it doesnt fit, it has to go! That is true for both the house move and for our relationship with our heavenly Father - Im hoping the personal sort-out will be less painful than the house clear-out!! © Sue Whitehead
