|
This is the book that every harassed parish priest wanting inspiration has been waiting for! CASE, the Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation, have spent two years collating an amazing directory of evangelisation resources for Catholics in the UK. The first time such a diverse collection of resources has been it brought together, the book is now available price £5 from CASE or free on-line at www.caseresources.org.uk The directory has over 130 pages, jammed packed with information of all kinds to help equip, enthuse and help Catholics to engage in evangelisation. Divided into various sections, there is information about all the dioceses and whats happening with contact numbers and addresses. Under the Parish Missions and Retreats section there is a list and a description of the various groups, lay communities and religious orders offering parish missions and what they entail. Also included in this section are particular renewal and evangelisation programmes like Come and See initiated by Fr Michael Hurley in Ballinteer in Ireland. You can also find information about CaFE, Alpha, Echoes, etc and lots of news about small groups and the cell system and how they have been working in this country and abroad. Then there is a whole section on Youth Initiatives and School Missions. This includes both diocesan initiatives and charismatic communities and communities from other lay movements that work with young people. Each contact has a brief description of the group and what they do. This is followed by a list and description of the various programmes which reach out to those who have lapsed from the practice of their Catholic Faith, such as Echoes and Landings. For those who want more formation in this area of evangelisation and catechesis there is also a section on the various training and formation centres and the courses they offer, including both part and full time courses. Those wanting to know more about prayer groups of various kinds, charismatic, contemplative and marian will also find suitable contacts as well as those who are interested in the new movements and communities working in this country and their spirituality and focus. At the back of the book there is an extensive list of useful on-line contacts and material as well as recommended reading. Mgr Keith Barltrop the director of CASE comments, The Directory is a great sign of hope for the Church. It sends out the clear message that the Church is full of evangelistic potential and that the cup is definitely half full and not half empty. Our hope is that it will encourage more and more people to take an active part in the mission of the Church in England and Wales and to use the resources already available. Theres something in it for everyone. For further details contact CASE, 114 West Heath Road, London NW3 7TX or website www.caseresources.org.uk
