Steve Lavery reports:-

TOM MULLEN RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN

At the recent meeting of the Scottish NST Tom Mullen, our chairman who has served two terms, was re-elected for a third one. It was agreed though, that some of the workload of the leader should be shared and the members of the NSC committed their support for Tom in this matter encouraging him to delegate tasks to others.

FR LAURENCE BRASSIL 40 YEARS IN THE PRIESTHOOD

Talking of working tirelessly for Renewal, we in Scotland would ask you to join with us in congratulating Fr. Laurence Brassil OSA who, this year, celebrates 40 years in the priesthood and 50 years in religious life. He is an inspiration to CCR in Scotland and through his healing ministry to all of us in the “Northern Isles”.

LINKS BETWEEN THE ISLES

Finally we pass on our congratulations and prayers to Michelle Moran in her new role on the NSC in England. To Charles we join with our brothers and sisters in England, Ireland and Wales in thanking him for the sacrifice of service over his years as leader and pray for him in whatever the Lord has planned. Isn’t it wonderful that the move of the Spirit, started back in Brentwood, has allowed us to grow in such a way that what happens in the other three nations is now our story, our journey as well?

DUNKELD - In our own diocese of Dunkeld we were delighted to have our Bishop, Rt Rev Vincent Logan come to do a day of renewal for us at the end of March (25th). He did two talks, celebrated the Mass and heard confessions all during the lunch hour but told us that he had never gone away from a day feeling so refreshed! It seemed he was particularly struck by the gift of tongues and commented, how peaceful he felt afterwards.

EDINBURGH - At the end of May I went over to Edinburgh for their mini-weekend organised by Tom Mullen. The speaker was Frances Hogan who is always so challenging and inspiring and makes you see at Scripture in a new way.

GLASGOW - Congratulations to the Community of the Risen Christ in Glasgow founded by David and Margaret McGill, which this year celebrates its silver jubilee. They had a long weekend of celebrations (20th-23rd April 2006) with a concelebrated Mass led by Bishop John Mone at the Holy Cross Church. The homily was given by Fr Stef Park, who had been a member of the community until he entered formation with the Augustinian order. Then there was a concert on the Friday night animated by the young people of the community. This was followed on the Saturday with a celebration meal with invited guests from sister communities around the globe who also belong to the Sword of the Spirit network of communities. David and Margaret spoke of how they lost one of their children when he was only 12 years old to cancer, but how God had worked through this tragedy to renew their Christian faith through the Charismatic Renewal, and later to teach them about lay covenant communities.
