CELEBRATE CONFERENCE - LATEST REPORT
People who go to the very popular Celebrate Family Conference
at Easter in Ilfracombe know from experience that they need
to return their application forms very quickly! Sue Whitehead
tells us that although all the on-site accommodation has been
taken, there are still places at the conference for those
willing to live off-site. In fact a third of the delegates
are always living off-site. Ilfracombe, being a seaside resort,
has lots of Bed & Breakfast places, flats and hotel accommodation,
as well as caravan sites and other Holiday Parks. For more

CELEBRATING 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF CCR
Next year will be the 40th anniversary of the Duquesne
weekend seen as the key event through which the Catholic Charismatic
Renewal broke into the Church. The N.S.C. in England is marking
this with two special events. One will take place over the
Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday, May 5th 2007 at Westminster
Cathedral, where the speakers will be Fr Raniero Cantalamessa
OFM Cap, the papal preacher from Italy and Kevin and Dorothy
Ranaghan, two of the founders of the People of Praise Community
in South Bend, Indiana, and key figures of the CCR both in
the US and internationally since the beginning. There will
also be several ecumenical guests including Rev Nicky Gumbel,
the author of Alpha and vicar at Holy Trinity Brompton Church
in London. Cardinal Cormac Murphy OConnor has also provisionally
accepted to celebrate Mass. Meanwhile in the North of England,
the actually anniversary itself of the Duquesne weekend (February
17th 2007) there will be another smaller charismatic celebration
led by members of the N.S.C. with Fr Jim McManus CSSR and
Archie Cameron among the speakers. This will take place at
Trinity and All Saints College, outside Leeds from 2-6 pm.
The London event will be ticket only on a first come, first
served basis. Price £ 5 each. Please send SAE for tickets
with cheques made payable to CREW Trust to the Goodnews Office.
Publicise these events and bring as many people as possible
so we can really thank the Lord for all he has done for us
over the last 40 years!
CATHOLIC EVANGELISATION SERVICES NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Do you want to help in the Evangelistic mission of the Church?
Catholic Evangelisation Services, who have created lots of
exciting catechetical and evangelistic material on video and
DVD (see page 22), are looking for individuals who would be
willing to help promote their resources in their local areas.
This could be done either by simply passing on resource brochures
and sample DVDs to nearby parishes or perhaps sharing
your positive experiences of using the resources at local
events, such as deanery meetings. Or you might like to write
about the benefits of CAFÉ resources for your parish
newsletters or diocesan newspapers. With the launch of the
series for parents of children making their First Holy Communion,
CES now has twelve series of videos available for small groups.
