BIRMINGHAM
CONFERENCE BACK IN PARAGON HOTEL FOR 2008/2009!
The Birmingham conference which used to take place at Newman
College, has for the last two years taken place at the Parragon
Hotel in the city centre of Birmingham. It has proved a popular
venue with its en suite facilities and numbers have been up.
There was a doubt whether the conference would be able to
be back there again for this coming summer but Bob Grant,
the conference chairman, has let us know that he and his team,
have been able to negotiate with the hotel and the conference
will be there for 2008/09. See upcoming issues of Goodnews
for news of speakers and themes. (see coming events for details
of Prayer and Praise day on 3rd November)

LIVE SIMPLY
give away what you dont want!
A couple of committed Christians have come up with an innovative
idea a new kind of e-bay web site where everything
is free. Efreeko.co.uk enables people to give anything they
want to anyone, anywhere in the UK. It is free to register,
free to use and everything on the site is free. Giving
useable items away to folks who have a need for them rather
than sending them to landfill sites is essentially what it
is about, says Jo Passmore and Matt Argyle, the web
developers and co-founders. They have been amazed at the response
since they started in December 2006. On the first day of operation
the site was visited by over 600 people and by the end of
the first month more than 200 items had found new homes. Efreeko.co.uk
allows its members to search categories, view picture of the
items offered, see how far they may need to travel to collect
an item, and even arrange for goods to be posted if they are
too far away. A partnership with Kwik Express Couriers enables
easy collection and delivery of large of heavy items if necessary.
HOUSE OF THE OPEN DOOR COMMUNITY RESTORATION AFTER

have received from friends and benefactors, but there is still
a lot of work to be done and the retreat house will not be
up and running till after February 2008. If you would like

PENTECOST OF THE NATIONS
for a new culture of Pentecost
Following last years very
successful events, ICCRS is calling on the world wide CCR
to spread the culture of Pentecost once again by organising
special prayer events in the nine days leading up to Pentecost
for Christian unity. This novena between Ascension and Pentecost
was first called for by Pope Leo XIII on the prompting of
Blessed Elena Guerra at the end of the 19th century. It has
received new impetus in recent years due to the work of Kim
Kollins, the ICCRS Project Co-ordinator of the Operation
Upper Room, as it is known. The hope is also on the
feast of Pentecost itself to be able to link some events by
internet or satellite as an act of common witness and unity.
ICCRS are asking people who are organising events to register
with them to build up the sense of unity. For Operation Upper
Room contact UpperRoom2008 aol.com
for Pentecost Day Celebrations contact events iccrs.org
ICCRS is also asking its supporters to consider using some
of these events to solicit funds for the important work of
their international office in Rome. For ideas for prayer events
