Walking to Walsingham - Advice sought
for Slovak pilgrims
For this years New Dawn Conference, five Slovak pilgrims
plan to walk from Stansted Airport to Walsingham. They would
like to use country roads and need somewhere to pitch their
tents enroute, between 30th July and 3rd August. They are
a charming group, all New Dawn regulars and English speakers.
Two are teachers; there is one married couple, a father and
two grown-up daughters. So, if you have any experience/advice
on routes or could offer a field or a garden where they could
camp for a night, please contact daphne.k1(at)virgin.net or
020 7370 4720. They are very hospitable and will probably
invite you to visit Slovakia - I have stayed several times
with them!

CCR
Pioneer, Miles Dempsy, celebrates his 80th birthday.
Miles Dempsey, leader of the Prince of Peace Community in
Liverpool and the inspiration behind the annual New Dawn Conference
at Walsingham, was 80 years old on 1st May, the feast of St
Joseph the worker. He and his wife Joan, along with 33 others
from the Liverpool area, will celebrate the occasion by going
on holiday to Medjugorje.
Miles has worked full time for
the CCR for the last 35 years relying on divine providence
to meet his needs. Then, 21 years ago, in 1987, he received
a prophetic word to hold a charismatic family conference called
New Dawn at the Marian shrine of Walsingham. It happened while
he was at a charismatic conference at Ars in France run by
the Beatitudes Community. So, the same year, with no experience
and only £20 in a jam jar, he organised the very first
New Dawn Conference. Eight hundred people came. It has
been a popular annual event ever since and today the numbers
attending have swelled to about 3000.
Myles is an international speaker
of some repute, and travels all over the world, giving talks
and ministering. He is particularly known for his healing
and deliverance ministry. He also served on the NSC for the
CCR in England for over a decade.
Happy Birthday Miles! May God
continue to bless you and keep you always in His loving care.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Over the years many of you have
given generously to ensure that GOODNEWS and the work of the
CREW Trust can continue, and we are enormously grateful to
all of you. Please accept our apologies if you have not received
a personal letter of thanks, but be assured that your support
is much appreciated and that all future donations will be
acknowledged. As the new Chairman of CREW Trust, I am now
asking for your support for our work through GOODNEWS, in
the certain knowledge that the magazine is widely appreciated
and is bearing good fruit. I know there are many deserving
calls on your resources, but I hope that you will support
this ministry which is bringing the life-changing power of
the Holy Spirit to more and more people. I am convinced that
the Lord wants us to serve people even more effectively in
the future, but if we are to do this we need to strengthen
our financial base.
As many of you will already know, GOODNEWS is financed by
the CREW Trust, produced by an editorial board, and is the
magazine of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. It is brought
to you by the National Service Committees of England, Ireland,
Scotland and Wales, and it seeks to serve the whole Church
by helping all its readers to experience and understand the
charismatic dimension of the Christian life. Among our readers
are many church leaders, including Cardinals, Bishops and
Laity, as well as prominent leaders from other Christian denominations
and traditions. GOODNEWS travels far and wide, and I meet
people all over the world who are regular readers. All this
means that GOODNEWS has an influence far greater than its
circulation might suggest, and the future is exciting.
Please consider if you can help us financially with a donation
to:
CREW Trust, GOODNEWS, Allen Hall, 28 Beaufort
Street, LONDON SW3 5AA
