Intercession

Raise up an army, O God

Fiona Hendy, from the House of the Open Door Community, who is the co-ordinator of the Network of Intercessors for the NSCs in the UK and Ireland, continues her regular column.

FionaThe Lord has been encouraging me to pray daily the prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel, and I want to suggest that we as intercessors pray this prayer for our own personal lives and for all the people of God. I believe it will join our hearts in faith as we pray:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen”.

The Lord has promised that He has given us the power to break down the strongholds of evil that surround us. The church, with the angels and saints stand together to march fearlessly into battle singing together songs of victory that the Lord has already won our battles!

1 Chronicles 16 v 9 -11 “Sing to him, yes sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. Exalt in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the Lord. Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him"

Matt 16: 18. “You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not prevail against it.”

The word “prevail against” in this verse means “be strong against,” that is, the gates of hell (Hades) will not “be strong against” or “withstand” or “hold out against” the church. Intercessors must be aroused to pray with faith on the offensive rather than the defensive. God tells us in his word to walk forward in faith, and trust Him for His help no matter what situation we are facing. Haggai 2: 4-5 says:
“Be strong all you people still left in the land. And now get to work, for I am with you says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. My Spirit remains among you just as I promised when you came out of Egypt. So do not be afraid.”

Today our God is asking us “Will you believe my Word?
Do not be afraid---I am with you! I am your God--let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you
." Is. 41:10

Let us arise and go to battle!
