Lock shields. The shields of faith that we all take up, we need to lock together so that we stand firm against the enemy; nobody can run, we all move forward or simply stand, encouraging one another, strengthening one another, holding one another up. If we know we have a particular call to intercession in the natural we can easily feel overwhelmed or out of control, because of the amount of problems in the world around us, There can be a strong temptation to carry prayer as too heavy a burden. But the following word has been given clearly to a few of us recently: Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. (Is 30v15) As we simply stand together, keeping our hearts with Jesus, who is seated on the throne, interceding with us and for us, His face, which shines likes the sun in full radiance (Rev 1v16) will be seen on earth. Confidence in Him, not doubt or fear, will give us strength. A word which came strongly to another intercessor was Do not be afraid, which was also the theme for the New Dawn Conference. Blessed are those whose strength is in you who have set their hearts on pilgrimage (Ps 84v5) As well as there being a sense of power in the praying together among the intercessors, there is also a strong sense at the moment of mutual support in prayer. Although not all intercessors will be gathering together in one place in October, in the Spirit we are joined shoulder to shoulder as we pray for the church in this country.
