CD of SONGS & POEMS
CAFOD Portsmouth are inviting poets and song writers to compose
poems and songs for a fund raising CD they are hoping to produce
this year. The theme of the pieces should be in harmony with
CAFODs vision, mission and values, but can range from
environmental justice, to living simply or worship and social
action.
Participants are invited to record their own song or poem
and send the CD they have made to CAFOD/Portsmouth who will
compile and market the CD. In this way, budding artists have
an opportunity to get their work publicised and CAFOD raise
needed funds for their overseas development work. Closing
date is the end of August 2010. Send recordings to CAFOD Portsmouth,
St Marys Church, Belle Vue Road, Aldershot GU12 4RX.

PRAYERS OF POWER
Everything you ask and pray for, believe that you
have it already, and it will be yours (Mk 11.24) This
book edited by Maisa Castro for the Catholic Brazilian publisher
Raboni impressed Spiro Sueref from Wales so much that he set
up the web site www.jesus4usall.com to distribute this book
in the UK and the English speaking world. He comments, This
book really revolutionised my prayer life and brought me to
a new level of faith. Its success has been so great
that there are now Prayers of Power books 1,2
& 3. These and other Raboni books are all available from
www.jesus4usall.com with a 10% discount for Goodnews readers

PRINCE CHARLES attends peace service at Westminster
Cathedral.
New
Dawners, Barry and Margaret Mizen, who hit the national headlines
two years ago when their son Jimmy was murdered in a local
shop, are continuing their work for peace in the community.
On 10th May, when Jimmy would have been 18 years old, they
organised a special peace service at Westminster Cathedral
in memory of their son and other teenage victims of violence.
A third of the cathedral was made up of the families and friends
of victims of gang violence, one third of London school pupils
and one third of other guests. The service was presided over
by Archbishop Vincent Nichols, and the Anglican bishop of
London, Richard Chatres, who both spoke. There were contributions
from pupils from London schools with music, readings and prayers.
Among the VIPS in the packed cathedral was Prince Charles.

group. They are 4 postacards for £ 1.30 (incl. postage).
