SILVER JUBILEE OF FR CHRIS THOMAS
Congratulations to Fr Chris Thomas (a
member of the English NSC and the Goodnews editorial committee),
who this year celebrated his silver jubilee as a priest. Hundreds
of people gathered at St Helen’s Church Crosby on 14th
July 2010 to celebrate it with him. Fr Chris, who is a priest
of the Liverpool diocese, is part of the Emmaus Family of
Prayer charismatic community. He spent 7 years as a university
chaplain, was then parish priest at St Marie’s in Southport
for five years and then initiated the Irenaeus Project 8 years
ago running scripture weekends, parish mission, retreats and
reflection days and evenings, as well as Come and See events.
The speaker at the next Come and See weekend in September
2011 will be Sr Helen Prejean, the nun made famous by the
book and film “Dead Man Walking”. Just before the
summer holidays Irenaeus moved office again to a huge former
presbytery at St Thomas of Canterbury Church. Their new address

BASIC EVANGELISATION – Guidelines for Catholics

FR MICHAEL HARPER MEMORIAL SERVICE
Friends and supporters gathered from all over the world to
remember Fr Michael Harper at a special thanksgiving service
at St George’s Orthodox Cathedral in London on 21st August
2010. Fr Michael, who was a great ecumenist, was one of the
early pioneers of Charismatic Renewal in England, first as
an Anglican vicar, and then in later years as an Orthodox
priest. He was the guiding force behind many ecumenical charismatic
initiatives both in the UK and internationally including the
setting up of Fountain Trust, the annual charismatic leaders’
conference, SOMA (Sharing Ministries Abroad) and ICC(International
Charismatic Consultation). His wife Jeanne survives him. Fr
Michael died earlier this year after a brief illness.

asbout the ministry, particularly on the dangers of Reiki
