Pope Francis blesses Holy Spirit course

His Holiness gives Apostolic Blessing to UK-produced Life in the Spirit course called The GIFT.

Pope Francis has given his Apostolic Blessing to a new resource for parishes and prayer groups aimed at helping Catholics live a life filled with the Holy Spirit.

The GIFT is a new six-part Life in the Spirit Course available on DVD or for download, produced by Catholic Faith Exploration (CaFE).

CaFE director David Payne wrote to Pope Francis to tell him the course was produced in direct response to his challenge to 45,000 Charismatic Catholics gathered in Rome’s Olympic Stadium last summer that they must “share with all in the Church the grace of Baptism in the Holy Spirit”.

“We at CaFE were deeply inspired by Evangelii Gaudium and the Pope's challenge last summer to 'share baptism in the Spirit with the whole Church',” said Payne.

“So in partnership with Celebrate and the Charismatic Renewal, we have responded with a £50,000 TV-quality DVD course to do just that.”

Pope Francis replied to Payne via a letter from the Apostolic Nuncio to Great Britain, Archbishop Antonio Mennini.

In his letter, Archbishop Mennini wrote: “The Holy Father on learning of the launch of the DVD resource The GIFT - a Life in the Spirit course, wishes to convey his good wishes and prayers. The Holy Father cordially imparts his Apostolic Blessing upon all who worked to prepare the material and all those striving to promote the Gospel in the Catholic Church.”
