The Power of Prayer in the Battle against Abortion
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul (Matthew 10:28) The above verse comes from one of the two powerful readings that our Prayer Group received, when we joined in prayer asking the Father to reveal to us a portion of His plan for us. It all started about a year ago, when one of us received the words Heart of a child, perhaps because she simply loves babies. At the New Dawn Conference last August Father Rufus preached that unless you have the heart of a child you cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven., it seemed that the sermon was a confirmation and that was the end of the matter. However, after this it seemed that abortion was suddenly being mentioned in the media more and more. I was particularly struck by an article by David Wilkerson entitled Its Time to Weep for America in which he denounced the crime of abortion and the horrible methods used for terminating life. Later, I had a picture, fleeting but clear, in which I saw a few people, no more than two or three, praying on a pavement. When she told her husband he said Perhaps the Lord wants us to go and pray outside the clinic. When the Prayer Group assembled one Monday evening we started to pray, repenting for the sin of abortion and we sought the will of the Father, asking Him to give us confirmation. Two readings came that evening, one from Genesis, when Abraham pleads to the Lord and when we read Even if ten people ... (Gen 18;32) we remarked that strangely enough there are ten of us in our group. The other reading is from Matthew 10 and when we read verse 28 it really spoke to us. That evening, during the praise, we had been singing Send us out and Lion of Judah. One of us had a picture of light coming from the Divine Mercy. That evening, back in December, we started to pray, often on our knees, repenting and reciting the chaplet of Divine Mercy or gave way to spontaneous prayer and singing in tongues, always invoking Christ Jesus, to pray with us. Some of us from the Prayer Group started to go out and pray while walking around the outside of the abortion clinic and on another Monday evening one of us had a picture of a young girl in need of prayer, so we boldly asked the Father to save one baby. I clearly remember that when we started to pray to the Father that evening we said to Him It doesnt matter if we never know but our Father, being the wonderful generous God that He is, let us know through a sister who works at the hospital, in the same building as the abortion clinic. Quite casually she learned that on the Wednesday a girl who was going to terminate the life of her child had changed her mind. That evening I knelt by my bed almost crying with joy unable to say anything but Father, you saved a little Moses! We have now heard that since we started to repent and intercede before the Lord at the Heavenly courts one baby has been saved every week and nothing like this has ever happened before at the clinic of death, and we know that the Father has heard our pleas. We have acknowledged our nothingness to Him, asking Him every time we pray to send His Holy Spirit on us to pray within us, we have beaten our breasts in repentance, we know that Jesus Christ is our greatest intercessor, that He is the Holy One of Israel, the High Priest, the Lamb of God, that whatever we ask in His name the Father will grant, because He is the One to whom the Father has given all power in Heaven and on Earth. Each of us in the Prayer Group has chosen a day during each week when we have promised to pray so that the whole week is covered by prayer. We now have asked the Father, even more boldly, to save five babies. On a recent visit to The House of the Open Door we asked our brothers and sisters there to join us in this crusade; we have also asked other Christians of different denominations and other Prayer Groups in the area. At a recent meeting of our Prayer Group one of us had a clear picture of the abortion clinic surrounded by Heavenly chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:17). We feel that the Lord is asking everyone to join in with this and more miracles will happen! Maria (UK), June 1997
